LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell Associate Athletic Director for Advancement
Ja'Marcus Hampton has announced
Whitney Swab as the Assistant Director of Athletic Advancement.
Her primary responsibilities will be to build the annual giving, alumni relations and special events programs for the department.

Swab, a UMass Amherst graduate, comes to UMass Lowell after working for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in numerous positions since 2008. Most recently, she was the Assistant Commissioner for New Media from 2012-2014. While in this role she supervised and mentored the New Media department, and worked to increase brand awareness of the MAAC through social media, online streaming, and the conference's website.
"I am delighted and grateful for the opportunity to join the UMass Lowell River Hawk community as the Assistant Director of Athletic Advancement," notes Swab. "It is exciting to become a part of an institution that is making great strides across campus, with the athletic department being just one of the many. It is a privilege to begin a role that will help support great coaches and student-athletes and I look forward to creating new relationships with our passionate donors and friends of UMass Lowell athletics."
From June 2011-November 2012 Swab managed all the social networking mediums as the Director of New Media/Broadcast & Marketing. While in this role she oversaw over 40 televised productions on ESPN2, ESPNU, and ESPN3. Swab also performed as the primary external media contact for select sports.
Swab's first position at the MAAC was as Director of Marketing from October 2008-June 2011, where she managed the fulfillment of corporate sponsorships and assisted with the development of new partnerships.
She worked as the Assistant Tournament Director for the NCAA Division I Basketball First & Second Rounds in 2010 and Second & Third Rounds in 2014, both in Buffalo, N.Y. Swab also was the Game Promotions Coordinator for the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic in Uncasville, Conn. during 2012 and 2013.
Swab has also performed in capacities as the Marketing & Merchandise Coordinator at the NCAA Divisions I, II, and III Rowing Championships in 2012, Marketing Coordinator at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in 2011, and as the Team Coordinator/Support Staff at the Old Spice Classic Exempt Event Division I Basketball Tournament in 2009 and 2010.
In 2008, Swab graduated cum laude from the Isenberg School of Management with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Sports Management, along with a Minor in Education.
