Kerry Weldon helps lead the team on the glass with 4.9 rebounds per game. As a team, UMass Lowell is shooting 41.2% (337-818) from the floor and 35.5% (118-332) from beyond the arc. The squad is also shooting 67.4% (186-276) from the line.
SCOUTING MAINEThe Black Bears, who own a 1-14 overall record, including a 0-3 mark in conference play, are in the midst of a nine-game losing streak. The squad has not won since December 2. Till Gloger is leading the offense with 11.6 points per game, followed by Shaun Lawton (10.5) and Zarko Valjarevic (10.2). Aaron Calixte is averaging 3.1 assists, while Lawton is behind him with three helpers a game. Marko Pirovic leads the team on the glass, grabbing 4.8 rebounds per game. As a team, Maine is shooting 40.5% (326-805) from the field, and 31.1% (91-293) from long range.Â
SERIES HISTORYTuesday's contest marks the fifth meeting ever between UMass Lowell and Maine in the sport of men's basketball. The River Hawks own a 3-1 lead in the all-time series, including an 84-72 win when the squads last met on February 27, 2014.Â
ROAD WARRIORSThe River Hawks, who began the new year with a five-game road swing, play 18 games away from home in 2014-15. The team has accumulated an 80-88 road record since 2003-04.
SUPERIOR SUBSAt UMBC, UMass Lowell's bench players outscored the Retrievers', 51-1, to help the team come back to earn the overtime victory. The River Hawks' reserves have been pivotal this year, outscoring their opponents, 380-258. That's an average of +8.1 points per game.Â
DEFENSE WINS GAMESHead Coach
Pat Duquette has made it very clear that strong half-court defense is a foundation of his program. That was especially apparent in the team's outing against Binghamton on Jan. 2, as the River Hawks held the Bearcats to just 40 points in the win. The team has earned five of its eight wins so far when scoring less than 70 points.Â
STEALING THE SHOWThe River Hawks are first in the AE with 6.8 steals per game.
Marco Banegas-Flores, who posted a career-high four steals at Rhode Island, currently leads the conference  with 31 this season. The team logged 15 steals at NJIT on Nov. 22 for the first time since reaching the mark against Adelphi on January 11, 2012.
Kerry Weldon set a season-high mark for the team with five steals in the NJIT contest, which was also a career-best for him. Â
