LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell women's basketball Head Coach Sarah Behn announced Wednesday she has accepted the women's basketball head coaching position at Brown University.

During the inaugural Division I season UMass Lowell finished tied for sixth place in the America East. She helped place a pair of players on the America East All-Conference Second-Team. They finished with a 5-23 overall record and 4-12 mark in conference action. Â
Â
"What a wonderful opportunity for Sarah," said UMass Lowell Athletic Director
Dana Skinner. "Everybody connected with the athletics department and the University wishes her nothing but success at Brown. We will immediately start a national search and move as quickly as possible to find a new coach to sustain our momentum in Division I." Â
Â
"I want to thank UMass Lowell Athletic Director,
Dana Skinner, and Chancellor Marty Meehan for the opportunity to work at such an outstanding university for the last three years," said Behn. "I enjoyed my time and the people I met at UMass Lowell very much and I will miss them. I was very proud to be part of the many athletic successes we enjoyed, especially the exciting transition to Division I athletics."
Â
Behn led the River Hawks women's basketball team to its best season in 10 years during the 2012-13 season. UMass Lowell finished the season with an 18-9 overall record and a 15-7 record in the Northeast-10 Conference, a nine-win improvement over a two year period.
