The River Hawks softball team fell in their finale at the Hampton Inn of Dunn Invtational 5-2 against Valparaiso on Sunday.
Melissa King (Stamford, Conn) hit the River Hawks second home run of the season in the fifth off of Valparaiso's Taylor Weissenhofer and was robbed of another in the first inning.
The loss drops UMass Lowell to 1-3 on the season while Valparaiso improves to 2-2.Â
Alyssa Zinkiewicz (Massapequa, N.Y.) batted in

(Langley, British Columbia) in the seventh for the River Hawks other run as they attempted to mount a rally.
Valparaiso hit two home runs and scored the first five runs before the River Hawks responded with the games final two runs.
Marielle Handley (Durham, Conn.) went three innings, giving up four runs on five hits while striking out two Crusaders before being replaced by
Erica Armenti (Shrewsbury, Mass.).Â
The River Hawks will have about three weeks off before they pick the action back up in Winter Haven, Fla. when they take on St. Francis University and La Salle University in the Rebel Spring Games.Â
