Box Score The UMass Lowell men's basketball team won their third game in four tries, beating UMBC 71-61 and taking the season series at the RAC in Baltimore, Md.
The River Hawks (8-15, 6-5 America East) used a 9-3 run right before the half and came out firing to start the second half, hitting six of their first seven shots from the field and four-of-five from 3-point range. Overall in the second half UMass Lowell shot 52.9% from the field.

Akeem WilliamsÂ
(Brockton, Mass.)Â lead the River Hawks scoring with a season-high 30 points and set career-highs for free throws made (12) and attempted (14). Williams' effort was just the sixth 30 point game in the America East this season.
UMass Lowell's defense was near top form, holding UMBC (8-16, 4-7 America East) to the second lowest field goal percentage allowed (.328) and second fewest field goals made (19) this season.
UMass Lowell shot a season best 64.3% from 3-point range making 4-of-8 in the first half and 5-of-6 in the second half.
For the Retrievers, freshman Rodney Elliott, the reigning America East Rookie of the Week totaled 26 points and five rebounds.
