The No. 7 ranked River Hawks hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie at Boston University on Friday night at Agganis Arena in Hockey East play.

With the tie, UMass Lowell moves to 18-7-3 overall (8-4-2 HEA), while Boston University holds with an 8-15-4 record and a 3-8-3 record in conference action.

With 2:08 to play in overtime, sophomore defenseman
Christian Folin (Gothenburg, Sweden) made a great wrap around bid on Matt O'Connor, but he denied the shot with his right pad. With under four minutes left in regulation, the River Hawks had sustained pressure in their offense zone with three shots on goal in a span of about 45 seconds.

Derek Arnold (Foxboro, Mass.) opened the scoring in the game 11 minutes into the first period, as he beat BU goalie Matt O'Connor short side on a cross slot pass from
Michael Fallon (Glenview, Ill.). Freshman defenseman
Michael Kapla (Eau Claire, Wis.) was also credited with an assist on the Arnold goal, which was his second goal in his last three games. Senior forward
Josh Holmstrom (Colorado Springs, Col.) registered the second goal of the contest for the River Hawks with 1:08 left in the first period. It marked the first goal in the last 10 games for Holmstrom.

Joseph Pendenza (Wilmington, Mass.) finished with a team-high five shots apiece in the tie for UMass Lowell.

Cason Hohmann and Matt Ronan scored goals for the Terriers, the goal for Ronan was the first of his collegiate career. Hohmann's goal made it a 2-1 game with 4:10 left in the opening period and Ronan's goal tied the game just 2:31 into the second frame.

Connor Hellebuyck (Commerce, Mich.) made his 40
th career start for the River Hawks, finishing the night with 33 saves. O'Connor also recorded 33 stops in net for the Terriers.

The River Hawks return to action on Saturday, February 8 at Massachusetts. Game time at the Mullins Center is 6pm, the game will be televised live on NESN.
