Hartford, Conn. – Junior Jasmine McRoy (Gaithersburg, Md.) scored a game-high 24 points, but it was Hartford who shot 57.1% in the second half to give the Hawks the 80-64 win over UMass Lowell, Wednesday night at the Chase Family Arena, in Hartford, Conn.

The River Hawks fall to 5-20, 4-10 in the America East Conference action and will travel to take on UNH on Saturday in Durham, N.H. Hartford improves to 7-6 in conference play and 10-16 overall and will host UMBC on Saturday.

Sophomore Lindsey Doucette (Hopkinton, Mass.) recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds. The third member of the River Hawks in double-figures was junior Shannon Samuels (Windsor, Conn.), who scored 19 points. Samuels also had a team-high four assist and three steals.

UMass Lowell trailed 27-22 at halftime.

Sophomore Melissa Frase (Tamworth, N.H.) gave the River Hawks a 34-33, lead 5:05 into the second half. This lead was short lived as the Hawks would make a couple runs and eventually stretch the lead to a game high 19 (61-42) points with 8:09 left in the game

The River Hawks shot just 32.9% for the game (25-76), while Hartford shot 47.0% (31-66) overall and 57.1% (20-35) in the second half.

Hartford had six players in double-figures, led by junior Amber Bepko, 18 points. Hartford's freshman Alyssa Englert scored 14 points. Freshman Deanna Mayza and Alyssa Reaves each had eight rebounds.

UMass Lowell forced 18 turnovers compared to committing just 10. That is the twentieth game this season the River Hawks have won the turnover battle.

UMass Lowell was once again out rebounded by its opponent. Hartford outrebounded the River Hawks, 54-36.Â
