LOWELL, Mass. – Freshman forward
Evan Campbell (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) of the UMass Lowell River Hawks hockey team was named Hockey East/Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon by the conference office.
Campbell scored a career-high two goals in Friday's 3-2 skate off win against Massachusetts at the Tsongas Center. He finished the night with four shots on goal and a +2 rating against the Minutemen.
He has skated in 22 of 30 games this season for the River Hawks and has registered seven points (6g,1a) with 32 shots on goal and a +5 plus/minus rating. Campbell has amassed five goals in his last six games, after scoring only one goal in his first 17 games as a River Hawk. Â
UMass Lowell returns to action on Friday night, February 21 at Boston College in the first game of a home-and-home series featuring the two top teams in the Hockey East standings. Game time from Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass. is 7pm. The River Hawks will return to action for senior night vs. the Eagles on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Tsongas Center (7pm) for their final regular-season home game.
