River Hawks Host St. Francis Brooklyn After Eight Day Break

The River Hawks will try to make it five straight wins at home

SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS: The River Hawks fell 78-63 in their last outing at Holy Cross eight days ago. Jasmine McRoy led the teams assault from long range as they posted their highest mark of the season, making 11-of-32 as a team with McRoy matching her career-high of four. UMass Lowell cut an 11-point halftime deficit to one possession twice in the second half but couldnít get surpass the Crusaders. Following a corner trey from Priscilla Dunphy and a steal and score from Shannon Samuels the River Hawks had the game at 62-64. Holy Cross' Lisa Mifsud would answer with a clutch three that spurred the Crusaders on a14-1 run to put the game away. Freshman Brianna Rudolph scored 13 points in the loss, her highest point total since pouring in 18 against Mt. Ida on Nov. 24.

SCOUTING THE TERRIERS: St. Francis Brookyln enters Tuesday nightís contest losers of their last four, including a 65-59 defeat at the hands of Georgia Tech their last time out. The Terriers are anchored by a trio averaging double-figure point totals, led by Eilidh Simpsonís 12.6 ppg. Sarah Benedetti and Jaymee Veney trail Simpson with averages of 11.4 and 11.2 ppg, respectively. Benedetti leads the squad in 3-pointers made, connecting on 26 of her teams 68 this season.

ALL-TIME SERIES: The meeting between the Terriers and River Hawks is just the second as SFB took the inaugural meeting a year ago 77-59 in Brooklyn. Then freshman Asia Mitchell-Owens set her career-high of 15 points off the bench for the River Hawks, going 6-of-9 from the field and 1-of-2 from distance. St. Francis was led by Eilidh Simpson who converted 7-of-11 from downtown and had a game-high 24 points.

Down by 10, the River Hawks scored the first five points of the second half before Sarah Benedetti made a three-pointer to stop the run.  The Terriers would go on a 14-6 run from there to put the game out of reach.

PROTECTING THE NEST: The River Hawks have won their last four home games after defeating Mt. Ida, Fairleigh Dickinson, Yale and Bryant. The team surpassed their home win total of three and has matched their entire win total of five from the 2013-14 campaign. In the four wins at the Costello Athletic Center, the team is beating their opponents by an average margin of 18 points.

FAMILIAR FOES: The Terriers and River Hawks have quite a few familiar opponents on their schedule with each facing three from the others conference. The River Hawks are 2-1 against the NEC, dropping a 58-81 contest to CCSU before beating Fairleigh Dickinson (78-67) and Bryant (86-85). The Terriers are 1-2 against the America East this year, dropping their season opener to AE preseason favorite Albany, 90-47, and also lost 57-55 to Vermont. Their 57-55 win over Stony Brook came on a 3-pointer from freshman forwrd Alex Delaney with .5 seconds left.

RUDOLPH FLYING HIGH: Freshman Brianna Rudolph turned in one of the best performances of her young career against the Crusaders last Monday scoring 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field, including a 2-for-4 mark from long range. The 13 points were her second-most to her career-high of 18 scored against Mt. Ida.
