DURHAM, N.C. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team fell to No. 13 Duke, 95-48 at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Friday night, halting the River Hawks two-game win streak.

Shannon Samuels (Windsor, Conn.), the reigning America East Player of the Week, scored a game-high 26 for the River Hawks (5-5) in the losing effort against the Blue Devils (7-3). The senior guard made 11 of her 22 attempts from the field, including a 3-for-7 showing from 3-point range.

The Blue Devils size and length were too much for the River Hawks as they held a 58-30 advantage in rebounds, 62-18 in points in the paint and 27-9 edge in second chance points.

Sophomore
Nicole Hayner (Bedford, N.H.) scored all nine of her points in a stretch of under two minutes while matching
Lauren Parra (Islip, N.Y.) with a team-high six rebounds.

Freshman
Nicole Riddick (Albany, N.Y) made her second appearance of the season tonight and totaled two points, three rebounds and a block in 16 minutes.

Duke had a balanced scoring attack with six players reaching double figures in scoring paced by Sierra Calhoun's 19. Senior All-American Elizabeth Williams tallied 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds while her frontcourt counterpart Azura Stevens had a 10 point and 11 rebound double-double.

The River Hawks will travel to Holy Cross for an 11:15 tip on Monday followed by an eight-day break.
