LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell men's basketball team travels to Duquesne University for a 1 p.m. tilt on Saturday, December 20 at the A.J. Palumbo Center.

LOOKING AT UMASS LOWELLThe River Hawks own a 6-4 overall mark heading into their contest on Saturday at Duquesne. This will be the team's first game in 10 days and final game before a nine-day lull in the action for the holiday.

Kerry Weldon (New York, N.Y.) leads the team on the boards with 5.5 rebounds per game. As a team, UMass Lowell is shooting 42.7% (221-518) from the floor and 37.8% (76-201) from beyond the arc. The squad is also shooting 64.8% (127-196) from the line.

SCOUTING DUQUESNEThe Dukes are the midst of a four-game skid after dropping a 67-52 decision against St. Francis (PA) in their most recent outing on Dec. 17. Jordan Stevens is leading the offense with 12.9 points and 3.0 assists per game coming off the bench. Derrick Colter and TySean Powell are scoring 12.3 and 10.8 points per game, respectively. Micha Mason leads the team in three-point percentage, shooting 40.4% (21-52). Jeremiah Jones is grabbing 4.9 rebounds per game and L.G. Gill follows with 4.3. Duquesne is shooting 44.7% (209-468) from the field and a 37.1% (72-194) from long range.

ROAD WARRIORSThe River Hawks play 18 games away from home in 2014-15. The team has accumulated a 79-85 road record since 2003-04.

HELPING HANDSMarco Banegas-Flores surpassed the 100 career assists milestone on Dec. 10 with three helpers against Dartmouth. The guard, who notched a season-high five assists at Fordham on Nov. 23, leads the team with 25 this year. As a team, the River Hawks tallied a season-best 24 assists against Mount Ida on Nov. 25, and are seventh in the America East with 11.1 per game.

TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORTFour of the squad's six wins so far have been decided by seven points or less. The team even trailed in the second half in three of those games (at NJIT, Fordham and BU) before battling back to earn the victories.Â

NUMBERS GAMENow that the River Hawks are 10 games into the 2014-15 season, several patterns in the statistics have started to emerge. The team is an undefeated 5-0 when leading at the half and also when shooting better than its opponent. In addition, the squad is 6-1 when its opponent scores less than 70 points. The River Hawks are 3-0 when winning the opening tip this year, as well.

UNDER CONTROLThe River Hawks posted a season low for turnovers at Sacred Heart with just six. The team is currently second in the America East with just 12.7 turnovers per game and third with a +2.1 turnover margin.
