SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS: No. 6/7 ranked UMass Lowell enters the home-and-home weekend with Northeastern with a 5-1-1 overall record and the River Hawks reside in first-place in the Hockey East standings with a 3-0-0 mark in league play. Sophomore forwards Chris Maniccia and Evan Campbell lead the team in scoring with eight points apiece. Junior goaltender Kevin Boyle has started five of seven games so far this season (2.98 GAA, .906 sv%). The River Hawks have now been ranked in the Top 20 of the national polls for 46 straight weeks. UMass Lowell is off to its best start since the 1995-96 season, when the River Hawks started with a 6-1-2 record.

LAST TIME OUT: The River Hawks earned four points in the weekend sweep on Saturday night in the 8-2 victory at the Tsongas Center. The eight goals scored by UMass Lowell was tied for the second highest goal output in team history at the Tsongas Center. Sophomore forward Chris Maniccia notched a career-high four points and his first career hat trick in the win against the Wildcats. Maniccia's hat trick was the 11th hat trick by a UMass Lowell skater in Tsongas Center history and it was the first time since David Vallorani against UMass on Dec. 5, 2009 (Thanks Scott Kaplan). Freshmen Ryan Collins and Tyler Mueller scored their first collegiate goals in the game. Freshman Jeff Smith tallied a career-high 27 saves in his second career start for the River Hawks.

UMASS LOWELL, USO HOST MILITARY APPECIATION NIGHT ON FRIDAY: UMass Lowell Athletics will host 2014 Military Appreciation Day on Friday at the Tsongas Center. UMass Lowell has planned a series of activities at the game to celebrate and recognize New England's military heroes, veterans and their families. Through a partnership with the USO of New England, the River Hawks have invited members of all five branches of the military from all over New England to attend the game. Fans have donated tickets over the past two months to help send military members and their families to the game in recognition of their service. To donate tickets today, use the form found at GoRiverHawks.com/MilitaryAppreciation. Prior to the game, there will be a ceremonial puck drop by Master Sergeant Cynthia Cassille of the 212th Massachusetts Air National Guard. Cassille, a UMass Lowell graduate, returned home from Afghanistan on October 22. Throughout the night, UMass Lowell will recognize veterans and current members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. In addition, the second intermission will feature a performance of God Bless America, a tradition on Military Appreciation Night each year.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES: Northeastern enters the weekend with 0-6-0 overall record and a 0-2-0 record in Hockey East play, which includes a sweep by ECAC foe Quinnipiac in a pair of one-goal losses on the road. Three of their six losses this year have been one goal losses. Junior forward Kevin Roy leads the team in scoring with five points (1g,4a) in six contests. Sophomore goaltender Derick Roy has started the last four games for the Huskies owning a 0-4-0 record (3.28 GAA, .901 save%).

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. NORTHEASTERN: The River Hawks own a 57-42-8 record in 107 all-time meetings dating back to Dec. 17, 1983. 12 of the last 36 matchups between the two teams have gone to overtime. Northeastern swept the season series last year (2-0), including their last meeting on Jan. 11, 2014 (4-1) at Fenway Park. Coach Bazin owns a 4-3-1 record in eight meeting since he started at UMass Lowell back in the fall of 2011. The River Hawks own a 30-18-2 all-time record vs. Northeastern at home in Lowell and own a 25-20-6 all-time at Matthews Arena. Senior defenseman Zack Kamrass is the active leading scorer vs. the Huskies with five points (1g,4a) in seven career games.

DID YOU KNOW?: The River Hawks 14 freshmen is the largest freshman class in NCAA Div. I hockey. The River Hawks 4.29 goals per game leads the nation among Division I teams. Sophomore forward Chris Maniccia's 1.33 points per game is tied for 14th nationally among Div. I skaters.

SPREADING AROUND THE OFFENSE: UMass Lowell has gotten goals from 16 different people and points from 21 different players in the first seven games.  That is the greatest distribution of scoring, both goals and points, of any Hockey East team (Thanks to Bob Ellis).

ZINK GETS ON THE OFFENSIVE: Sophomore blueliner Dylan Zink has already more than sextupled his career point total in seven games with seven points (2g,5a) after recording one assist in 26 games last year in his freshman campaign.

THE CLASS OF 2015: The River Hawks senior class has an all time record of 83-36-8. That equals last year's senior class for second most wins in Division I, that class of 2014 went 83-60-11. The best ever senior class was the 1996 class that went 88-56-15. The Class of 2015 is five wins away from tying that record, and six wins away from this class becoming the winningest class ever (Thanks again to Bob Ellis).
