SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS: The River Hawks are coming off a 51-105 loss in South Bend, Ind. to No. 3 Notre Dame. The team was led in the scoring column by Shannon Samuels 16 points and Jasmine McRoyís 11.
HARRIS GETTING SETTLED IN: Jenerrie Harris will make her home debut tonight. She was named the programs seventh head coach on June 26, 2014. Harris spent the last five seasons at Navy where she was an assistant for four years (2009-13) and the associate head coach in 2013-14 under Stefanie Pemper.
SCOUTING THE RAMS: The Rams are also under the guidance of a first year head coach with Daynia La-Force and enter the matchup with the River Hawks on the short end of both contests. The Rams dropped a pair over the weekend at the URI Tip-Off Tournament to Marshall 61-45 and East Carolina 66-38. Charise Wilson is averaging 9.0 points per game and 31.5 minutes to lead the team. Samantha Tabakman is averaging 8.0 points per game and 7 rebounds a game. Kiara Palmer has averaged 7.5 rebounds per game to start the season. Rhode Island currently has the nationís longest road losing streak at 47 games.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. URI: The River Hawks trail 0-1 in the series against URI. Freshmen guards Nicole Hayner and Asia Mitchell-Owens scored 18 and 10 points respectively in the teams setback against the Rams last season against. UMass Lowell connected on a season high 13 3PTM, but it was enough as URI rallied back from an eight point second half deficit.
HOME OPENERS: The River Hawks are 22-16 all-time in home openers and have posted a 6-4 mark in the past 10.

RIDDICK STARTING: Nicole Riddick stepped into the starting lineup against the Fighting Irish and was the fourth freshmen to start on opening night since the 2012-13 season.
BABY STEPS: Three of the teams four freshmen earned playing time against the Fighting Irish, including Nicole Riddick who picked up the starting nod. Jontay Walton and Brianna Rudolph also got minutes with Rudolph chipping in three points and three rebounds.
PARRA'S PRESENCE: After totalling nine blocks all of last year, sophomore Lauren Parra tied her 2013-14 season high, swatting two shots against Notre Dame.
SAMUELS SUCCESS: Shannon Samuels was selected to the America East Preseason All-Conference team after ending last season second in the AE in points (15.7 ppg), while finishing third in assists (3.7 apg) and steals (2.1 spg). Expectations continue to grow with her getting named to the Preseason All-Conference team by the coaches.
