Sandra Niedergall Named Associate Athletic Director

LOWELL, Mass. - UMass Lowell Director of Athletics Dana Skinner announced the addition of Sandra Niedergall as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, on Friday afternoon.

"I would like to thank the search committee for this opportunity, especially chairperson Kristi Stake. I look forward to joining the River Hawks' athletic administration as we continue the journey of Division I status for all of our sport teams," remarked Niedergall. "The more I researched the position, the more impressed I became with the reputation of the institution, the dynamic leadership of Chancellor Meehan and Athletic Director Dana Skinner and the dedicatedcoaching staff."

The Saginaw Valley State University graduate comes to UMass Lowell after spending the previous four years at Old Dominion University as the Senior Associate Athletic Director of Compliance and Student-Athlete Welfare. While at Old Dominion, she was the 2012 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championships tournament director.

Before her tenure at Old Dominion, Niedergall was the Director of Compliance at the University of Nevada, Reno from 2004-2010. She was also the Director of the Mackay Athletics Resource Center at Nevada from 1995-2004.

"We're so pleased to have Sandra join our athletic staff during this important period," said Skinner. "Her extensive experience in compliance and the perspective she has gained working at several Division I institutions will be an asset to our University."

While earning her Masters of Science in Education-Leadership and Education Policy Studies at Northern Illinois University in 1991, she spent time as an athletic advisor from 1990-1993.

Niedergall graduated from Saginaw Valley in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. She earned a double minor in psychology and business administration.
