Doucette with a Career-High 24 points and 14 Rebounds

LOWELL, MA (Jan. 7, 2014) – Sophomore Lindsey Doucette's (Hopkinton, Mass.) double-double was not enough as UMass Lowell lost a 65-64 nail bitter to Binghamton Tuesday night at Costello Athletic Center on the campus of UMass Lowell.

Doucette recorded her first career double-double and had a career-high 24 points and 14 rebounds while shooting 10-17 from the floor.

Binghamton improves to 4-11, 1-1 America East while the River Hawks falls to 0-12 and 0-2 in America East Conference play after letting a 17 point second half lead evaporate.

UMass Lowell jumped out of the gate scoring three straight threes and a layup by Melissa Frase (Tamworth, N.H.) to take a 11-4 lead 2:54 into the game. The River Hawks would continue to lead throughout the first half and carried a 37-25 lead into halftime after shooting 50% (16-32) from the floor including 41.7% from three.

The River Hawks stretched a 12 point halftime led out to a game-high 17 points four minutes into the second half when UMass Lowell was up 48-31. With less than six minutes to go the Bearcats trailed by 13 points, 60-47. Binghamton went on a 13-0 run and tied the game at 60 with 2:26 after Vaneeshia Swinson made a pair of free-throws.

Binghamton's Morgan Murphy would score the eventually game-winner on a layup with 20 seconds remaining to put the Bearcats up 65-64. The River Hawks had a couple chances but couldn't convert on a pair of layups.

Junior Jasmine McRoy (Monroe, N.Y.) scored 15 points and dished out five assist.

The Bearcats were led by Sherae Swinson with team-high 20 points and five rebounds, while Vaneeshia Paulk scored 14 points.

The River Hawks out rebounded Binghamton by a 36-31 margin but it was the Bearcats who forced UMass Lowell into 15 turnovers compared to just committing 11.

The big difference in the score sheet was the 30-5 bench point's advantage for Binghamton.
