The UMass Lowell men's basketball team dropped the decision in their first ever meeting against the University of New Hampshire 61-32 at the Tsongas Center.

UMass Lowell drops to 5-14 with a 4-4 mark in the America East, while UNH improves to 5-15 and 3-4 in the America East.
Senior forward Antonio Bivins (Miami, FL) finished with a team-high 12 points and eight rebounds but the rest of the team couldn't find the range and struggled shooting from the field.

The River Hawks got to the line early and often and connected on 20 of their 25 free throw attempts. The 20 made free throws is the second highest total the team has accumulated since making 21 earlier this month against UMBC.

UNH senior center Chris Pelcher utilized his size, punishing the undersized River Hawks on his way to recording a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds along with a career-high seven blocks.

The 3,717 fans in attendance set a new record for the largest crowd to attend a men's basketball game at UMass Lowell.
Sophomore guard DJ Mlachnik (Muskego, Wisc.) scored the opening points of the game on a pair of free throws and finished the game with a season-high nine rebounds.

UMass Lowell took a 7-6 lead following a layup and free throw from Bivins with 13:29 left in the opening half. UNH countered by scoring 10 unanswered to create some separation before going into the half up 25-17.

UNH boasts the second best scoring defense in the conference, limiting the opposition to 64.3 points a game. The Wildcats dug in on defense holding the River Hawks to season-lows in several offensive categories.

The River Hawks play next at 2 P.M. Saturday at the Costello Athletic Center against Binghamton who they beat earlier this season 71-59 in Vestal, N.Y.
