River Hawks Women's Basketball Host Mount Ida at 6

Home, Sweet Home:

UMass Lowell will play five of their next six games at Costello Athletic Center. The River Hawks started the season with 10 of its first 13 games on the round, including eight straight road games in seven different states.
 
Last Time Out: UML 65, UMBC 57
Junior Jasmine McRoy returned back home to lead UMass Lowell to its first Division I and America East Conference win on Saturday afternoon at UMBC. McRoy, a Maryland native set a new career-high of 22 points (9-19) and went 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. She also was active on the boards with a team-high nine rebounds.
The game had 13 lead changes, nine ties and wasn't decided until freshman Nicole Hayner (Bedford, N.H.) hit a three to give the River Hawks a 58-57 lead with 4:26 left in the game. UMass Lowell finished the game on a 10-0 run.
Sophomore Lindsey Doucette scored 13 points in the second stanza and grabbed eight rebounds.
 
Scouting the River Hawks:
UMass Lowell's two junior transfers, Shannon Samuels, a standout at Roxbury Community College, and Jasmine McRoy, who was a junior college All-American at Monroe (N.Y.) College lead the River Hawks, averaging 13.2 and 10.5 ppg, respectively. Sophomore Lindsey Doucette is averaging a team-high 6.8 rpg.
 
Scouting the Mustangs:
The Mount Ida women's basketball team has a 3-9 overall record this season. The Mustangs are coming off a 71-64 loss to Pine Manor on January 9th.
For the season junior Jenn Rafuse leads Mount Ida averaging a double-double with 12.5 ppg  and 10.8 rpg. Freshman Angelique Martinez is also averaging a double-double scoring 11.1 ppg and grabbing a team-high 12.2 rpg.
 
All-Time Series:
UMass Lowell leads the all-time series with Mount Ida 2-0. They last meet during the 1976-77 season with UMass Lowell defeating the Mustangs, 63-46.
 
America East Tidbits:
1: The River Hawks average a league high 3.2 blocked shots per a game.
2: UMass Lowell leads America East with 10.5 steals per a game.
3: Samuels is 4th in AE with 13.2 PPG, 7th with 3.2 APG, & 3rd with 2.2 SPG.
4: Doucette is 7th with 6.8 RPG & 4th with 2.2 SPG & 5th with 0.9 BPG
5: Hayner is averaging 2.0 3PG good for 2nd in AE
6: The River Hawks took 85 shots in the game against Vermont, tied for the fourth-most in a game in America East history.
7: The 25 steals by UMass Lowell at Vermont are tied for the third-most in a single game in AE conference history.
8: The River Hawks' 43 3-point attempts vs. Providence was an America East record.
 
Lots of New Faces:
The River Hawks welcome nine freshmen and two junior transfers this season. They join five returning players from last season.
