UMass Lowell Director of Athletics Dana Skinner announced today that Scott Dolch, most recently the Senior Account Executive for UConn IMG Sports Marketing and formerly Assistant Athletic Director for External Relations at the University of Hartford, has been named UMass Lowell's Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations.
Dolch will direct and coordinate all Athletics sales and marketing, oversee corporate partnership efforts, fan experience, communications and media relations, and strengthen relationships with UMass Lowell's growing list of media partners. Dolch also will provide oversight for strategies to increase ticket sales, merchandise and other revenue streams.
"Scott's background matched perfectly with the needs of this position," said Skinner. "We believe he can continue the external success achieved around UMass Lowell hockey in recent years and capitalize on the momentum created across campus and in the community with the elevation to Division I and the America East Conference."
Dolch's current role with UConn IMG Sports Marketing is to manage, renew, and fulfill corporate partnerships, develop new special events to increase revenue opportunities, and work with UConn marketing on events and promotions.
Before UConn IMG, Dolch served for three years as the Marketing & Media Manager for the Travelers Championship, Connecticut's only PGA Tour stop and the state's largest professional sporting event. He was responsible for managing marketing, advertising, special events and media relations for the tournament.
From 2010 through 2012, the Travelers Championship generated more than $3.2 million for charity and was voted "Most Fan Friendly Event" on the PGA Tour two of the three years.
Prior to the Travelers Championship, Dolch worked for four years at the University of Hartford. He began as the Director of Marketing and was elevated to Assistant Athletic Director for External Relations. During his tenure with Hartford, Dolch managed the external relations staff, corporate partnerships, ticket sales, marketing and promotions for 18 intercollegiate sports. He was instrumental in helping the University win the bid to host the first-ever combined America East Men's and Women's Basketball Championship in 2010.
"I am honored and thrilled to join the UMass Lowell Athletics staff," Dolch said. "UMass Lowell has achieved tremendous success in recent years and there is a great sense of pride about athletics throughout the campus community. I am excited to work with Chancellor Marty Meehan, Athletic Director Dana Skinner and their dedicated staff in achieving their vision for River Hawk Athletics to be the premier program in both the America East Conference and Hockey East."
A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Central Connecticut State University, Dolch studied Business Management & Organization. He was also a four-year starter at quarterback and team captain for the Blue Devils' 2004 NEC Championship football team.
He earned Academic All American recognition and was selected Central Connecticut State's outstanding male athlete following his senior year.
Dolch and his wife, Erin, have two children, Mason (4) and Teagan (1). He begins his duties with the River Hawks on Sept. 2.
