Boston Bruins Sign Bobby Robins

Former UMass Lowell standout earns a two-year deal

Bobby Robins rough and tumble style has made him a fan favorite in the American Hockey League.

Boston Bruins General manager Peter Chiarelli announced that the Bruins had signed former UMass Lowell Forward Bobby Robins to a two-year, two-way contract worth $600,000 at the NHL level and $100,000 and the AHL level.

The 6'1", 220-pound Robins was one of five signings covered in the Bruin announcement late last week

The 31 year old Robins has skated the past two seasons (2011-13) with the Providence Bruins and appeared in 107 games, registering six goals and 17 assists for 23 points. In 2012-13, the forward racked up a career high 316 penalty minutes, leading both the P-Bruins and the AHL. A crowd favorite, Robins led Providence in PIM's in 2011-12, amassing 150 penalty minutes in 33 games.

Robins has skated in 212 AHL games, including stops with Rochester, Albany and Syracuse, recording 17 goals and 28 assists while accruing 610 penalty minutes.

In 12 AHL playoff games with Providence this past season, Robins, a Peshtigo, Wisconsin native, earned a goal and an assist along with a league leading 69 penalty minutes.

Robins wore the River Hawks uniform from 2002 thru 2006 scoring 69 points (32 goals and 37 assists) and amassing 253 penalty minutes. Known for his physical play, Robins led UMass Lowell in scoring during his senior season, (13 goals 18 assists, 31 points.)
