Ali Ferraro (Kingston, N.Y.) launched a three-run homerun as a part of a six-run third inning for UMass Lowell as the River Hawks cruised past Post, 9-1.
The win brought UMass Lowell to 24-18 overall on the season and 13-3 in the Northeast Division of the Northeast-10 Conference.
The loss dropped Post University to 16-29 overall on the season and 7-17 in conference play.
UMass Lowell and Post took a scoreless tie into the third inning, but the River Hawks got the hot bats going on a cold day to the tune of a six-run third.

Ariana Darcy (Wallkill, N.Y.) forced in a run with a walk and junior
Abby Jamieson (Billerica, Mass.) followed with a two-RBI single, Ali Ferarro cleared the bases with a three-run shot that gave UMass Lowell a 6-0 lead.
Ferraro now leads the team in homeruns with five on the season.
Post was able to get a run back in the home half of the inning when Casey Sclafani hit an RBI single to left field, but UMass Lowell responded with three more in the fourth.

Marielle Handley (Durham, Conn.) picked up the win for the River Hawks. Handley improved to 18-12 on the season as she pitched four innings and allowed one run on seven hits while striking out three.
Johanna Rice took the loss for Post. Rice pitched four innings and allowed nine runs on eight hits.
