The UMass Lowell varsity four placed third among five boats to highlight its first action of the spring in a tri-meet against Clark University and Bowdoin College Saturday on the Quinsigamond River.
UMass Lowell posted a time of 7:39.4 to place behind Bowdoin's varsity four, which won the race in 7:08.1, while the Bowdoin varsity 'B' team placed second in 7:34.1.
Leading UMass Lowell's fours were junior coxswain
Rachel Paquette (Dracut, Mass.), sophomores
Rachel Piela (Amherst, Mass.) and
Jenna Bueno (Methuen, Mass.); and seniors
Kim Haskins (Taunton, Mass.) and
Melinda Neale (Plaistow, N.H.).
The aforementioned were also members of UMass Lowell's varsity eight boat, which finished third in 7:40.9 behind Bowdoin (7:02.5) and Clark (7:24.2). Also among UMass Lowell's eight were sophomore
