UMass Lowell placed fifth in its group and 10
th overall in the Women's Division II Varsity Eight at the 2013 Dad Vail Regatta Friday on the Schuykill River.
With the finish, UMass Lowell will wrap the season Saturday afternoon in the Varsity Eight Petite Final at 4:43 p.m. The River Hawk eights posted a time of 7:09.33.
Nova Southeastern won the group preliminary in 6:33.30 while Cal-San Diego took second in 6:39.05. Grand Valley State (Mich.) placed third in 6:44.49 while Orange Coast College (Calif.) came in fourth (6:54.49).
In the other Division II Women's V8 preliminary, Barry University (Fla.) took first in 6:36.26 and was followed by Mercyhurst (Pa.) (6:47.51) and Philadelphia (6:58.40), along with Rollins College (Fla.) (7:00.48) and Florida Institute of Technology (7:00.83).
Nova Southeastern, Cal-San Diego and Grand Valley will join Barry, Mercyhurst and Philadelphia in Saturday's Women's V8 Grand Final at 4:03 p.m. Orange Coast, Rollins and FIT will join UMass Lowell in the Petite Final.
