Senior C Brianna Mahoney (Billerica, Mass.) led UMass Lowell as she batted 2 for 2 with a two-run shot in the fifth inning. Sophomore DH Abby Jamieson (Billerica, Mass.) went 1 for 2 with a run and a walk.

Sophomore P Courtney Lanfranchi (Burlington, Mass.) took the loss to slip to 1-2 this season. Lanfranchi surrendered seven hits, three earned runs and no walks with two strikeouts over 3.2 innings.

Sophomore P Liz Parkins (3-0) earned the win as she allowed seven hits, two earned runs and two walks while striking out five.

Shippensburg carried a 3-0 lead into the fifth inning when, after a single by sophomore 1B Daniele Crutcher (Londonderry. N.H.), Mahoney cracked a home run to left center to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Shippensburg, however, scored two in the bottom half of the inning behind a solo shot from sophomore DH Jessie Trammell and an RBI single up the middle by sophomore 1B Maddie Justice.

Jamieson scored in the top of the sixth on a groundout, but the River Hawks could muster no closer.
