Georgian Court University used a pair of late-inning rallies to deal a pair of losses to UMass Lowell, 11-10 and 6-5 (in eight innings), Wednesday in a non-conference softball twin bill in Lakewood, N.J.
With the losses, UMass Lowell slipped to 2-8 overall and enters the West Virginia Wesleyan Tournament Friday through Sunday, opening against Edinboro University at 11:00 and Shippensburg at 1:00.
Georgian Court improved to 5-9.

Daniele Crutcher (Londonderry, N.H.), who batted a collective 5 for 8 with three runs and three RBI. Senior 2B
Krista MacKenzie (Ipswich, Mass.) went 2 for 5 with three RBI, two runs and two walks.

Ariana Darcy (Walkill, N.Y.) each batted 3 for 4 with two runs and one RBI while MacKenzie went 2 for 4 with two RBI and a run.
UMass Lowell opened up a 10-1 lead in the top of the third inning behind RBI singles from Crutcher, freshman
Brianna Martin (Methuen, Mass.) and Darcy as well as an RBI double from MacKenzie.
The River Hawks carried the lead into the bottom of the fourth inning when Georgian Court reeled off five runs, led by a two-run single by junior Justine Mattia as well as RBI singles from junior 3B Taylor McDonough and freshman C Meghan Sfraga.
Georgian Court continued to chip away and added three more runs in the fifth behind a three-run double by Mattia. The Lions escaped the top of the seventh inning as UMass Lowell had runners on second and third, and won the game in the bottom half behind a two-run single by McDonough.

Marielle Handley (Durham, Conn.) took the loss (0-5) as she yielded four hits, two earned runs and no walks while striking out one over the final 2.1 innings. Sophomore P
Courtney Lanfranchi (Burlington, Mass.) started the game and went 3.2 innings, allowing seven hits, six runs and three walks while striking out two.
In the nightcap, UMass Lowell led 5-3 entering the bottom half of the seventh inning, but Georgian Court knotted the score, 5-5 behind RBI singles from freshman RF Senna Francesconi and Sfraga to send the game into extra innings.
The Lions completed the sweep in the bottom half of the eighth inning when Mattia hit an RBI single to right field to score senior Vanessa Flores.
