Sophomore CF Ariana Darcy (Walkill, N.Y.) batted 3 for 3 with two RBI and a walk to lead UMass Lowell over Lenoir-Rhyne University, 4-0, Sunday night in the Catawba College Softball Tournament at Salisbury Community Park.

With the win, UMass Lowell improved to 2-1 entering Monday's game against the host Indians (11:00) and a pair against Pfeiffer University.

Lenoir-Rhyne slipped to 8-4.

Sophomore P Courtney Lanfranchi (Burlington, Mass.) earned her first win of the season as she scattered five hits and a walk in going the distance. Freshman P Maryann Hoskins took the loss as she allowed eight hits, three walks and two earned runs while striking out two.

Senior C Katie Mazure (Burlington, Mass.) batted 2 for 3 with one run and one RBI.

UMass Lowell scored two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings. IN the fifth, Darcy doubled and reached home on a single by Mazure, later reached third on a single by junior 3B Ali Ferraro (Kingston, N.Y.) and scored on a wild pitch.

Darcy then followed with a two-run double in the sixth inning.
