Doucette scores 13 points but the River Hawks Lose at Bryant

SMITHFIELD, RI (Dec. 20, 2013) –Bryant defeated UMass Lowell 100-52 at Chace Athletic Center in Smithfield, R.I. Friday afternoon.
 
Sophomore Lindsey Doucette (Hopkinton, Mass.) led the River Hawks with 13 points, five rebounds, five steals, four assists and three blocks. Junior Shannon Samuels (Windsor, Conn.) scored 12 points.
 
The Bulldogs had five players in double figures. Senior Naana Ankoma-Mensa scored a game-high 20 points, while graduate student Meredith Soper had a double-double, 15 points and 14 rebounds.
 
Trailing 16-11 with 8:25 left in the first half the Bulldogs went on an 18-0 run to jump out to a 34-11 lead. Bryant finished out the first half strong and led 54-23 at halftime.
 
The second half was pretty much the same story with the Bulldogs shooting 60.7% (17-28) from the floor compared to UMass Lowell's 27.0 % (10-37).    
 
Bryant shot 56.1% (37-66) compared to UMass Lowell's 31.3% (20-64). The Bulldogs also had a big advantage in the rebounds margin, 54-24.   
 
The River Hawks falls to 0-11, while Bryant improves to 4-6 on the season. UMass Lowell closed out their eight game road trip and will return home after the new years to host Binghamton on Thursday, January 7. The Bulldogs will play at Columbia on January 30.
