BOSTON (Nov. 13, 2013) – Boston University forward Dom Morris scored a career-high 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Boston University over UMass Lowell, 91-65, Wednesday night in a non-conference men's basketball game at the Case Gym.

With the loss, UMass Lowell slipped to 0-2 entering Saturday's game at Dartmouth (4:00). Boston University improved to 2-0 and visits No. 19/20 Connecticut Sunday in the 2K Sports Classic (12:00).

Senior G Akeem Williams (Brockton, Mass.) led UMass Lowell with 18 points, four assists and four steals while sophomore G DJ Mlachnik (Muskego, Wisc.) added a career-high 15 points, shooting 5-10 from the field. Junior G Chad Holley (New York, N.Y.) chipped in 16 points, four rebounds and three assists on 5-9 field goal shooting.

Morris converted 12 of 15 field goals and all three free throws to lead BU. Sophomore G Maurice Watson, Jr., added 18 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals while shooting 8 for 12 from the field. Senior F Travis Robinson chipped in 11 points off the bench while sophomore F Nathan Dieudonne had 10 points and five rebounds and freshman G Cedric Hankerson 10 points off the bench (4-6 FG shooting).

BU, the 2013 Patriot League preseason poll favorite, opened the game with a 22-4 run, fueled by 10 points from Morris who converted a pair of conventional 3-point plays, and never let the River Hawks within 20 points the rest of the way.

"I was really impressed. There is a reason they're picked to win the Patriot League," Head Coach Pat Duquette said of the Terriers. "I wouldn't be surprised if that team wins a lot of games. That's a very good basketball team."

BU led 69-38 in the opening minute of the second half, but UMass Lowell put together a 14-4 run to cut the lead to 73-52 with 12:29 to play. Williams led the spurt with six points while Mlachnik hit one of his four 3-point shots.

The Terriers, however, outscored UMass Lowell 10-4 over the next five minutes to maintain is distance.

"There are going to be some incredible challenges and it's going to be a long process," Duquette said of UMass Lowell's first year in Division I. "We're making progress in small ways that don't always show every day. And we have to make sure we focus on those things."
