Box Score The UMass Lowell women's basketball team fell 90-70 to Yale University Tuesday night in a non-conference women's basketball game at the John J. Lee Amphitheater in New Haven, Conn.
Yale junior Sarah Halejian led the Bulldogs with 20 points while sophomore Meredith Boardman scored 14.
The River Hawks' leading scorers were juniors
Shannon Samuels (Windsor, Conn.) and
Jasmine McRoy (Gaithersburg, Md.) who combined for 46. Samuels had 27 points and five rebounds, while McRoy scored 19 points.
Sophomore
Lindsey Doucette (Hopkinton, Mass.) had a game-high 10 rebounds.
The third River Hawk in double digits was freshman
Nicole Hayner (Bedford, N.H.) with 10 points.
With the loss UMass Lowell falls to 0-2, while Yale improves to 2-0.
The Bulldogs shot .400 from the field (31-77) and meshed .333 of their 3-point attempts (9-27) while UMass Lowell shot at a .350 clip overall (26-74) and .210 from long range (19-29).
The Bulldogs had a 57-48 advantage on the boards, 20-15 offensively and 37-33 on the defensive side.
UMass Lowell trailed 48-42 at halftime.
The River Hawks return home on Saturday to host Holy Cross at 2:00 p.m. and Yale will host Sacred Heart at 3:00 p.m.
