Saturday’s opener halted a streak of nine straight wins.
Adelphi is currently 21-12-1 overall and 12-6 in the NE-10.

Senior pitcher Elyssa Boris (Gardner, Mass.) improved to 16-4 this season with the victory in game two. Freshman pitcher Courtney Lanfranchi (Burlington, Mass.), however, struck out sophomore DH Katie Andrews while senior catcher Lindsi Panarelli (Shrewsbury, Mass.) picked off sophomore pinch runner Courtney Sullivan at second base to end the inning.

Adelphi capitalized in the 10th inning, however, when junior CF Emily Dorko was intentionally walked and freshman LF Kayla Rieger slap-singled to second base to load the bases (junior SS Jeanine Leo was placed on second to start the inning).

Krier roped a double to left field to score Leo and Dorko while Rieger was thrown out at the plate. UMass Lowell had runners on first and third in the bottom of the 10th, but was unable to convert.

Lanfranchi took the loss (10-5) as she scattered seven hits, four walks and two earned runs while striking out five. The Panthers added one each in the fifth, sixth and seventh, but were unable to muster any closer.
Junior 2B Krista MacKenzie (Ipswich, Mass.) batted 2 for 4 with one run and one RBI while Ferraro went 1 for 2.

Dorko led Adelphi, hitting 3 for 4 with a run.

Andrews took the loss and slipped to 5-2 this season as she allowed three hits, four earned runs and two walks while striking out two in 2.1 innings.
