Merrimack College erupted for 10 runs in the fifth and sixth innings to turn back UMass Lowell, 13-8, Wednesday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference softball clash at Warrior Field.
The game was originally scheduled from Mar. 29, where it was suspended after four innings due to darkness.
With the loss, UMass Lowell slipped to 30-14 overall and 16-10 in the NE-10 entering Thursday's home twin bill against Assumption (3:00). Thursday's game was pushed back from Sunday due to impending showers.
Merrimack improved to 16-20 overall and 10-14 in the NE-10.

Meagan Guy (Berlin, Conn.) led UMass Lowell, hitting 2 for 3 with three RBI and three runs while junior CF
Ashley Daniels (Medford, Mass.) went 3 for 4 with three runs and one RBI, and junior 2B
Krista MacKenzie (Ipswich, Mass.) 2 for 4.
Senior CF Monique Gosselin led the Warriors, hitting 4 for 5 with four RBI and three runs while freshman C Jenn Post went 3 for 4 with three RBI and two runs. Sophomore 2B Ashley Perry went 3 for 5 with two runs.

Elyssa Boris (Gardner, Mass.) took the loss to slip to 18-9. Boris scattered eight hits, 10 runs (five earned), two walks and a strikeout after replacing freshman
Courtney Lanfranchi (Burlington, Mass.) after three innings.
Lanfranchi allowed eight hits, three runs (all earned) and two walks while striking out four over the first three innings.
Junior pitcher Kelli Jo Deardorff yielded 10 hits, six earned runs and seven walks while striking out four.
UMass Lowell posted a 6-3 lead after the top of the fifth inning, but the Warriors scored six runs in the bottom half to grab a 9-6 lead. Post and Gosselin started the rally with RBI singles while Perry added a two-run single.
Post and Gosselin also led the sixth inning surge for Merrimack, each with a two-run home run. UMass Lowell pulled two runs back in the seventh behind a two-run shot by Guy, but were unable to muster any closer.
The River Hawks had jumped out to a 4-1 lead with back-to-back home runs by sophomore 3B
Ali Ferraro (Kingston, N.Y.), a two-run shot, and a solo home run by Daniels. Guy, who had reached on a walk, later scored on an error.
