Box Score
Despite a terrific relief effort from righty Taylor Robinson (Haverhill, Mass.), UMass Lowell baseball came up short at Saint Anselm, 7-2, on Sunday afternoon. Robinson pitched 4.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen, allowed three hits and struck out two.

The loss dropped the River Hawks to 19-13-1 on the year, 9-7-1 in the Northeast-10 and 4-5-0 in the Northeast Division. The Hawks of Saint Anselm improved to 17-18-1 overall, 9-7-1 in the NE-10 and 5-3-1 in the Northeast Division.

The game got off on the wrong foot as Saint Anselm grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Mike Hayden (Cranston, R.I.) chipped an infield single to bring a runner home from third, then Dan Lagasse (Londonderry, N.H.) clubbed a two-run homer to right field.

The trouble continued for UMass Lowell in the second inning as Andrew Chandler (Westford, Mass.) delivered a one-run single to the right-center gap to push the Hawks' lead to 4-0.

The margin increased again in the fourth on a two-run single by Hayden and a RBI double by Lagasse to push the score to 7-0.

The River Hawks started to claw their way back in the seventh inning, cutting the score to 7-2. Senior Matt Jacobs (Hudson, Mass.) singled to get things going, then classmate Cam Kneeland (Rowley, Mass.) hit a two-out triple. A few pitches later junior James Katsiroubas (Milton, Mass.) connected on a single to left field to bring in Kneeland.

The seventh proved to be the only inning UMass Lowell could muster any offense, ultimately falling 7-2.
Starting pitcher Dallas Nunes (Easton, Mass.) experienced a tough showing on the mound. Nunes tossed 3.2 innings and allowed all seven runs before giving way to Robinson. Robinson allowed three hits while pitching 4.1 scoreless innings.

Katsiroubas finished the day 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk, while Kneeland went 1-for-4 with an RBI, a run and a walk. Rookie shortstop Geoff DeGroot (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) also played well, batting 4-for-5 on the afternoon.

UMass Lowell jumps right back into action on Monday at Post University. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
