Courtney Lanfranchi (Burlington, Mass.) earned her third shutout in five appearances as UMass Lowell battled back from a 0-1 loss to win the second game 2-0 Saturday morning in a Northeast-10 Conference softball doubleheader in Clermont, Fla.
With the split, UMass Lowell is 12-6 overall and 2-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference and resumes its schedule next Saturday at Saint Anselm (1:00/3:00).
Franklin Pierce is currently 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Conference.
Lanfranchi, who improved to 3-3 on the year, posted shutout victories over Millersville (8-0) on Mar. 10 and Molloy (4-0) on Mar. 14. In today's victory, she allowed Franklin Pierce six hits and no walks while striking out five.

Ferraro batted 3 for 3 to lead UMass Lowell while Ford and Greene each went 1 for 2.
Six players had one hit for Franklin Pierce. Junior pitcher Rachel Allen (0-1) took the loss as she allowed five hits, two walks and two earned runs while striking out one.
In game two, senior LF Rachel Baxter singled with the bases loaded in the fifth inning for a 1-0 lead and freshman P Kaitlyn Johnson made it stand, allowing six hits and two walks while striking out seven.
UMass Lowell threatened in the fourth inning with the bases loaded and none out, but was unable to capitalize. In the sixth inning, Greene and senior pitcher
Elyssa Boris (Gardner, Mass.) each singled to open the inning, but Johnson was able to retire the next three batters.
Greene led UMass Lowell, hitting 2 for 3 while Boris went 1 for 2 with a walk. Boris also took the loss as she yielded five hits, a walk and no earned runs while striking out three to slip to 8-3 this season.
Sophomore 3B Megan Bird went 2 for 2 with a run to lead Franklin Pierce while Baxter hit 2 for 3.
