Wednesday, the UMass Lowell women's and men's basketball teams will take on conference-rival Stonehill College at 5:30 and 7:30 at the Costello Athletic Center.

The women are coming off a win against Queens College, 72-52, on Sunday afternoon. In the victory, senior G Bianca Simmons' (Middleton, Conn.) notched a double-double with 17 points and 11 assists. The performance helped earn Simmons the Northeast-10 co-player of the week honors.

The women last played Stonehill on Feb. 8, 2012. On that day, the River Hawks defeated the Skyhawks 71-56.

This season, Stonehill has gotten off to a phenomenal start. The Skyhawks are undefeated with a 5-0 record, and sit in second place in the Northeast-10 with a 2-0 conference record.

The men's team will play the late game, and look to rebound after dropping a 69-60 decision to Saint Michael's last Tuesday. In the loss, senior F Matt Welch (Lowell, Mass.) had 19 points on 7-16 shooting. Junior G Akeem Williams (Brockton, Mass.) chipped in with 11 points and six assists.

UMass Lowell will play for revenge. Last year, Stonehill defeated UMass Lowell three times, ultimately ending the River Hawks' run at the Northeast-10 Championship. In the Northeast-10 Championship game, the Skyhawks defeated the River Hawks, 73-61.

This year, Stonehill sits in the middle of the pack in the Northeast-10, with a 2-1 overall record, and a 1-1 in-conference record.
