UMass Lowell Athletics is proud to announce that Stanley Cup winners Shawn Thornton and Rich Peverley of the Boston Bruins will be at the Tsongas Center next month on Friday, Feb. 3 and Friday, Feb. 10, respectively. Both appearances will coincide with River Hawk home games and are presented by LowellBank.
"We are very excited about our second half hockey schedule and are thrilled to be able to bring two players from the defending Stanley Cup champion Bruins to the Tsongas Center," said Eric Allen, Assistant Athletic Director.
Thornton, a fan favorite and five-year Bruins' veteran, is a two-time Stanley Cup champion. He will be on hand on February 3 as UMass Lowell battles Vermont in Hockey East action. Thornton will participate in a ceremonial puck drop before the game begins and will be available for autographs on the concourse throughout the night.
In addition, season ticket holders may purchase raffle tickets at the River Hawks next two home games (Fri, Jan. 20 and Sat, Jan. 28) for the chance to drive to the Tsongas Center with Shawn Thornton. One lucky winner and a guest will hitch a ride down to Charlestown with our driver to pick up the Bruins' forward before heading up to the Tsongas for the game!
Peverley, who has 28 points in 34 games this season, joined the Bruins at the trade deadline last season and notched 12 points in the playoffs. He will be at the Tsongas Center on February 10 as the River Hawks take on rival Merrimack at 7:00PM. The right winger will drop the ceremonial first puck before heading up to the concourse to sign autographs.

The #10/11 River Hawks (12-5-0, 7-4-0 HE) have won eight of their last nine games and recently capped off 2011 by winning the 19th annual Toyota UConn Hockey Classic.
