Senior Cory Murray (Methuen, Mass.) and freshman Candace Greene (Annapolis, Md.) were each named the Co-Field Athletes of the Week while freshman Samantha Otten (Ashland, Mass.) earned Freshman Field Athlete of the Week honors, the Northeast-10 Conference announced Tuesday.

The honors were the result of the UMass Lowell throwers' efforts Saturday at the Bridgewater State Invitational, its first competition of the spring season.

Murray, Greene and Otten each captured their events and provisionally qualified for the NCAAs.

Murray won the men's shot put with a throw of 53 feet, 0.5 inches, currently the 10th-best effort in the country this season. He shared the honor with Stonehill's John Gelcius, who won the men's javelin (196' 2.0'') at the Bridgewater Invitational.

Greene won the women's shot put with a throw of 43' 11.5'', which currently ranks seventh on the latest NCAA Division II list. Greene shared the honor with Kambryn Williams of American International College, who won the javelin at the Westfield State Invitational (132' 10.5'').

Otten captured the javelin with an effort of 133' 6.75'' which currently sits 12th on the Division II list.

UMass Lowell returns to action Saturday at the Jim Sheehan Invitational Saturday at Fitchburg State.
