River Hawks and Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union Bring the Stanley Cup to Lowell

Nov. 2, 2011

UMass Lowell Athletics is proud to announce the Stanley Cup will be in Lowell on Friday, Dec. 2. Stanley Cup Night, sponsored by Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union, will take place at the River Hawk ice hockey game against the University of New Hampshire Wildcats at the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell.

Fans at the game will be able to see the Cup and take pictures with it beginning at 5:30 p.m. with face-off scheduled for 7 p.m. Tickets are available now through the Tsongas Center Box Office, www.TsongasCenter.com or by calling 866-722-8780.

The Stanley Cup visit will give New England hockey fans the chance to see hockey's ultimate prize, which was captured by the Boston Bruins in 2011. It toured the globe this summer with members of the Bruins, but was returned to the Hockey Hall of Fame after the Bruins' home opener on Oct. 6.

"One of the most exciting moments in local sports history was when the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup this year. UMass Lowell is very excited to bring the Stanley Cup to our own hockey fans to provide them with a unique and memorable experience," said UMass Lowell Assistant Athletic Director Eric Allen.

The Stanley Cup, which is managed by the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, is making the trip to Lowell in large part thanks to the support of Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union.

"We continue to value our longstanding partnership with UMass Lowell and we were thrilled when presented with the opportunity to be a part of this historic event," said Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union Senior Vice President Michelle Silveira. "Our members and employees will be very excited to have the ability to take part in this evening's festivities."

Once at the Tsongas Center, the Stanley Cup will be available for viewing on the concourse behind Section 110. All River Hawk season ticket holders and Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union members who have a valid game ticket will be allowed early entry for photos, beginning at 3 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., doors will open to the public. The Cup will be visible from the main concourse throughout the event. Fans who want a photo with the Stanley Cup will be asked to wait in line behind Sections 110-113.
