Hadley Tabbed Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Week for Third Consecutive Week

Oct. 13, 2010

Full Northeast-10 Release

Senior tri-captain Jaime Hadley (Chelmsford, Mass.) has been named Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in as many weeks. Her contributions – offensively and defensively – helped the No. 3 UMass Lowell River Hawks to a pair of shutouts on the week, improving them to an 11-0 record with a 3-0 mark in conference play.

The squad opened the week with a Tuesday tilt against Merrimack, which they won 5-0, followed by a trip to Worcester to defeat the Assumption Greyhounds 9-0 on Sunday.

The River Hawks have been tabbed with at least one NE-10 weekly honor each week of the 2010 season and this marks the fourth consecutive week they have captured Defensive Player of the Week honors, as Kayla Littig (Carver, Mass.) was named the week before Hadley’s streak.

Hadley led the defensive corps, only allowing six shots by opponents over the two-game spread. UMass Lowell outshot Merrimack and Assumption a combined 59-6. The River Hawks also out-cornered opponents 39-4, including a 25-2 advantage over Assumption on Sunday.

Hadley also made her presence felt offensively, tallying six points on the week, including a five-point (1g, 3a) performance on Sunday.

The senior is the daughter of Deborah and David Hadley of North Chelmsford, Mass.

Senior midfielder Liz Day (North Andover, Mass.) was also recognized by the NE-10 and named to the Weekly Honor Roll for her efforts during the 2-0 week. The fellow tri-captain recorded three goals on the week, tallying her first against Merrimack before following up with a pair against Assumption.

Day’s season goal total now stands at 11, surpassing her personal best of eight. She also became the program’s 10th all-time leading scorer this week, having tallied 91 points thus far (32g, 27a)

The River Hawks return to action Thursday at 7:00 p.m. when they will take on the Bentley Falcons in non-conference action in Waltham.
