Hadley, No. 3 River Hawks Cruise Past Assumption, 9-0

Senior M Jaime Hadley (Chelmsford, Mass.) had a hand in four goals to lead No. 3 UMass Lowell over Assumption, 9-0, Sunday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference field hockey clash at the Multi-Sport Stadium.

The victory lifted UMass Lowell to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in the NE-10 entering Thursday’s match at Bentley (7:00). Assumption slipped to 0-10 overall and 0-5 in the Conference.

Hadley scored one goal and assisted on three others while seniors Liz Day (North Andover, Mass.), Sammy Macy (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Lizzy Ales (Arlington, Mass.) each scored two goals.

The River Hawks have outscored opponents 60-2 this season, and scored three goals off penalty corners today, including two in the second half.

Junior F Katie Enaire (Amesbury, Mass.) opened the scoring in the second minute, and then set up Hadley’s goal in the 11th minute as the River Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Day scored her first unassisted in the 17th minute and Hadley set up Macy’s first goal in the 34th minute off a penalty corner to give UMass Lowell a 4-0 cushion at the break.

Ales converted a pass from Macy just over two minutes into the second half and Macy scored again in the 45th minute for a 6-0 lead.

Hadley set up Ales’ second goal in the 47th minute as well as Day’s second goal in the 57th, both off corners. Freshman M Janelle DeCamillis (Littleton, Mass.) capped the scoring with her first of the season, unassisted in the 60th minute.

Shots favored the River Hawks 33-3 overall and 23-2 on target. Freshman GK Melanie Hopkins (Harwich, Mass.) stopped two shots while senior Danielle Luongo had 14 saves.
