Freshman F Taylor Hartmann (Feeding Hills, MA) scored two goals just 2:30 apart in the first half as UMass Lowell defeated American International College, 4-0, Saturday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer clash at Cushing Field.

The victory was the seventh straight - sixth consecutive by shutout - for the River Hawks, who improved to 6-2-2 overall and 6-1-1 in the NE-10 entering Wednesday's non-conference home tilt against C.W. Post (4:00).

The win also extended UMass Lowell's shutout streak to 672 minutes, a perpetual school record.

AIC slipped to 4-5-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the Conference and hosts Pace Wednesday at 3:30.

Hartmann opened the scoring just 8:17 into the match when she headed home a cross by senior D Colleen Fitzpatrick (Tewksbury, MA) from the right flank inside the far post.

Hartmann completed the brace just over two minutes later. An attempt by senior F Kelly Soper (Auburn, MA) deflected off a defender into the path of Hartmann, who easily slotted home her fifth of the year.

UMass Lowell went ahead 3-0 in the 73rd when junior D Ella Merullo (Wakefield, MA) headed a corner kick by sophomore M Maddy Bissaillon (Merrimac, MA) inside the near post.

In the 88th, senior D Jenna McIntosh (Johnstown, NY) sent a volley from the back, which AIC goalkeeper Kara Potts misjudged at the top of the box, enabling sophomore Kaitlynn McHugh (Winchester, MA) to pounce into an empty net.

The River Hawks outshot the Yellow Jackets 22-8 overall and 12-2 on target. Senior G Jamie Gillis (North Billerica, MA) had two saves en route to her 30th career shutout while Potts stopped eight shots.
