Audio Recap - The River Hawk Report - Field Hockey and Men's Soccer Win

Katie Enaire (Amesbury, MA) tallied nine points, as the No. 3 UMass Lowell River Hawks (8-1, 1-0 NE-10) earned a decisive 9-1 victory over the Saint Anselm Hawks (0-7, 0-1 NE-10) in a non-conference tilt on Saturday afternoon at Cushing Field.

In the first eight minutes of the game, junior forward Enaire netted four goals and later added an assist in the second half. Her nine points tied a program-best, while UMass Lowell's top career scorer, Sara Hohenberger was the last River Hawk to do tally nine points in a single game (Oct. 29, 2005 vs. Southern Connecticut).

Enaire scored first in the second minute of play (1:54), receiving a pass from Sammy Macy (Tewksbury, MA) off of an early penalty corner. She struck again just 23 seconds later (2:17), as Ashley Smith (Killingworth, CT) brought the ball up from center field and found Enaire in the center of the circle.

Her third strike came from a similar spot in the middle of the circle and was set up by Molly Clay (Rockport, MA) in the sixth minute of play (5:02). Enaire's final goal came just over two minutes later, grabbing her own rebound in the eighth minute of play (7:19) and finding a hole on the right side of the cage, for her eighth goal of the year.

Lizzy Ales (Arlington, MA) made it a 5-0 game as she tipped in a shot from Abby Auld (Waltham, MA) in the 22nd minute of play (21:02). The tally marked Ales' fourth in the last three games.

Saint Anselm cut the lead to 5-1 before the first half was over, though, as sophomore Caitlin Hurley (Cape Elizabeth, ME) scored her first of the year in the 34th minute of play (33:35).

UMass Lowell went on to tally three more goals in the second half, the first by Clay. Senior midfielder Kayla LeSage (Amesbury, MA) found her teammate off the penalty corner, as Clay tallied her first goal of the year in the 41st minute of play (40:08).

Junior Jaime Hadley (Chelmsford, MA) increased the River Hawks' lead to seven, finding the ball off a penalty corner in the 43rd minute of play (42:41) for her second goal of the year.

UMass Lowell struck one final time, as senior defender Laura Sullivan (Norwood, MA) found Auld on a penalty corner halfway through the second half. Auld netted her third goal of the year in the 54th minute of play (53:44).

Amy Carbon (Bellingham, MA) and Kate Hickey (Medway, MA) split the duties in net, playing 35 minutes apiece. Carbon made two saves and allowed one goal, earning her sixth victory of the year. Hickey allowed no goals and faced no shots on goal in the second half.

Saint Anselm netminder Lindsay MacDonald (Dedham, MA) made five saves in the first half, before she was relieved by Megan Sullivan (Braintree, MA) in the second. Sullivan made nine saves during her shift. UMass Lowell outshot the Hawks 30-5 on the afternoon.

The River Hawks also owned a 15-3 advantage in penalty corners in the game. They capitalized on these opportunities, as four of their nine goals stemmed from penalty corners.

The River Hawks return to action on Tuesday, heading to North Andover, Mass. for a Northeast-10 Conference game at Merrimack College. The game is set for 4:00 p.m.
