The River Hawk women enter tonight's clash fresh off wins last week at New Haven (1-0) and Stonehill (3-1) which halted a two-match slide against Florida Southern (0-1) and NE-10 newcomer Adelphi (0-2).
Saint Anselm (3-1-1, 3-0 NE-10) leads the all-time series against the River Hawks, 8-5-1, and has gone unbeaten in the last three meetings, winning 1-0 in the 2006 NE-10 Tournament quarterfinal and 2-0 in the 2007 regular season before playing to a 2-2 deadlock last year.
UMass Lowell has a busy weekend with visits to Assumption Saturday (4:00) and Bridgeport Sunday (6:00).
On the men's side, the River Hawks are off to a 2-1 start with wins over Dowling (3-2, 2 OT) and New Haven (2-0 last Saturday), interrupted by a 0-1 loss at home to Dominican a week ago.
On Saturday, junior Stephen Potcner added two more goals to his account at the expense of New Haven while senior Ryan Richards earned his first clean sheet of his career and 22nd of his career.
Franklin Pierce (3-2-1, 1-1 NE-10) looks to avenge last year 0-1 loss in Lowell, in which Rudy Kocandrle scored the lone goal in the 77th minute. The Ravens opened the year with a 3-0 win over Dowling, followed by a 1-0 loss to C.W. Post and a 0-0 stalemate against Bridgeport.
After defeating Molloy (4-3) on Sept. 6, Franklin Pierce suffered a 0-2 loss at Southern New Hampshire, but returned to the win column Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Saint Michael's.
The River Hawks host Assumption Saturday at 1:00.
