Second Half Run Lifts Bentley Over UMass Lowell, 61-45

LOWELL - Senior G Kristy McLean (Staten Island, NY) registered 23 points and 10 rebounds as Bentley University defeated UMass Lowell, 61-45, Sunday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball clash at the Costello Athletic Center.

With the loss, UMass Lowell slipped to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the NE-10 entering Wednesday's game at Saint Anselm (5:30). Bentley improved to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in the Conference and visits New Haven Saturday at 2:00.

Junior F Jen Valente (Prospect, CT) led the River Hawks with 13 points and four rebounds while hitting 6 of 10 field goals. Senior C Revital Carmon (Bat-Yam, Israel) grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds in addition to six points and two blocked shots while junior G Rahshala Valentine (Cincinnati, OH) chipped in nine points.

Sophomore G Kim Brennan (Locust Valley, NY) added 10 points, four assists and two blocks for Bentley.

The Falcons outscored UMass Lowell from 3-point range (24-9) and from the free throw line (9-2), and also forced the River Hawks into 5 for 25 shooting in the second half.

Bentley also forced 20 turnovers by UMass Lowell while committing just 13, enabling it to outscore the River Hawks 19-8 off miscues.

With the score knotted at 34-34, Bentley used an 18-4 run to post a 52-38 cushion with 7:17 left to play. Brennan scored all 10 of her points in the run.
