PHILADELPHIA (Sept. 6, 2008) - Junior OH Elsa LeGrand (Highlands Ranch, CO) compiled 20 kills and 16 digs as UMass Lowell defeated Seton Hill University, 3-0, and fell to Edinboro, 3-1, Saturday in the University of the Sciences Devils Volleyball Classic. With the split, the River Hawks stand at 2-1 overall entering Tuesday's Northeast-10 Conference opener at Southern New Hampshire (7:00). In the win over Seton Hill, sophomore OH Jillian Hadder (Yucaipa, CA) registered 12 kills and seven digs and led three River Hawks in double digits in kills as UML prevailed 3-0 (27-25, 25-22, 25-18). LeGrand added 11 kills and 11 digs while sophomore MH Sarah Coscia (Pittsfield, MA) chipped in 10 kills and six blocks. Junior L Allie Eide (Gresham, OR) led the defense with 15 kills while sophomore OH Vicky Wong (Tewksbury, MA) added 10 digs. Junior S Nichole Rondeau (Dracut, MA) dished out 33 assists while collecting nine digs. Freshman OH Michelle Ferrari and senior OH Reigh Steban each led Seton Hill (1-2) with 11 kills apiece. Ferrari also added 11 kills while Steban had 10. Junior S Sara Acklin dished out 24 assists. In the loss to Edinboro, LeGrand posted nine kills and five digs as Edinboro took the last two sets en route to the 3-1 victory (25-19, 20-25, 25-20, 25-16). Coscia and senior OH Kendra Ciccone (Quincy, MA) each added eight kills while Ciccone also had 10 digs. Hadder had a team-high 13 digs in addition to five kills while Wong chipped in 12 digs, Rondeau compiled 14 assists and 10 digs. Freshman OH Ellie Lininger led Edinboro with 16 kills and eight digs while junior MH Olivia Williams added 15 kills and eight digs. Freshman S Megan Osysko dished out 39 assists.
