LOWELL, MA - Junior Rex Radloff (Dedham, MA) was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II Northeast Region Track Athlete of the Year, the USTFCCCA announced Wednesday.
The honor is the latest of several this season for Radloff, who is currently in Walnut, CA, gearing for the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Championship.
A two-time All-New England runner in the 5,000 meters this year, Radloff placed second at the New England indoor championship in14:41.77. He also followed with a second-place finish at the New England outdoors with a time of 14:23.31, which sealed his place at the NCAA Championship with the 16th seed.
Radloff also captured the Northeast-10 Conference championship in the outdoor 1,500 meters in 3:57.89. He was the runner-up in the mile at the NE-10 indoor championship (4:23.61).
Radloff will run the NCAA 5,000 meters preliminary race Friday night at 8:15 p.m. (11:15 EST) with the hope of qualifying for the final, slated for Saturday at 8:07 p.m. (11:07 EST).
Radloff is a 2005 graduate of Dedham H.S.
