UMass Lowell softball standout Courtney Cashman (Danvers, Mass.) wrapped up her freshman campaign with two more weekly accolades. Cashman earned her fourth America East Rookie of the Week honor in addition to being named River Hawk of the Week for the third time.

The shortstop closed out the regular season by helping the River Hawks to a 3-1 showing in their final four games of 2017. She batted .538 on the week with an impressive 1.308 slugging percentage. Of her seven hits, four were for extra bases, including three home runs. She totaled seven RBI and four runs scored, as well.

Cashman started the week with a pair of hits in a hard-fought, extra-innings contest at Maine on April 27. She then helped the team to its first three-game series sweep of the year against UMBC on Saturday-Sunday, April 29-30 with two RBI in each of the tilts. Her best showing of the weekend came in the season finale on Sunday, when she tied a personal best with two home runs in the 9-4 Senior Day win.

Overall in 2017, Cashman boasts a conference-leading .430 batting average on 58 hits. She registered a team-best 17 multi-hit games, in addition to leading the squad with 11 doubles, seven home runs and 35 RBI.

The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.
