Freshman shortstop Courtney Cashman (Danvers, Mass.) was named both America East Rookie of the Week and River Hawk of the Week for her performance in six games from March 13-19.
Cashman paced the team at the plate during the week, batting .500 with 12 hits, eight runs scored and eight RBI. Five of her hits were for extra bases, including three doubles and the first two home runs of her career. She logged multiple hits in five of the six games, and with 21 total bases, the shortstop registered an .875 slugging percentage, as well.
Â
Her best outing of the week came in a 14-2 win against Georgetown on March 17 at the UNCW Invitational. In that contest, she went 4-for-4 with four runs scored and five RBI. She went yard in both the second and fifth innings to match a single-game record for the program.
Â
A native of Danvers, Mass., Cashman added three hits in four at-bats against St. Bonaventure on March 19 after tallying a pair of hits against both Coastal Carolina and UNCW on March 15 and March 18, respectively.
Â
Cashman was just as effective in the field last week with 10 putouts and 16 assists for a .963 fielding percentage.
Â
This marks Cashman's first ever America East award and first River Hawk of the Week nod. The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.
