Freshman forward
Anouk Lalande (Brussels, Belgium) has been named both America East Rookie of the Week and River Hawk of the Week, as announced on Tuesday.
Â
The newcomer turned in an impressive, 11-point week to help lead the UMass Lowell field hockey team to a pair of victories.
Â
Lalande started things off with two assists in a 5-2 win against Siena on September 16. She then put together a standout performance against Saint Louis on Sept. 18, when she tallied four goals and one assist for nine points. In that outing against the Billikens, she put the River Hawks on the board less than seven minutes into play and had a hat trick by the 18th minute of action. The nine-point showing ranks tied for second all-time on UMass Lowell's single-game record list.
Â
So far this year, Lalande has started all six games, and paces the River Hawks with six goals and three assists for 15 total points.
Â
The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.
Â
Lalande and her UMass Lowell squad return to action on Friday, September 23 when they host Hofstra under the lights at Wicked Blue Field. Â Â
