After becoming the 15th player in program history to score 1,000 points, senior forward Lindsey Doucette (Hopkinton, Mass.) of the UMass Lowell women's basketball team has been named River Hawk of the Week.

This marks the second River Hawk of the Week honor for Doucette and the third for the women’s basketball team as a whole.

Needing 19 points to reach the plateau entering the matchup against Hartford on February 3, the Hopkinton, Mass. native scored a career-high 28 points. The milestone basket came on a baseline layup with 1:02 remaining in the third quarter.

Doucette also set a personal best with 12 field goals in the 75-70 overtime setback, while dishing out three assists.

The senior followed up her career night with 10 points at Stony Brook on Feb. 6.

So far this season, Doucette has set career highs with 329 points and 142 field goals, while scoring 14.3 points per game to lead the team. She also leads the squad with 8.2 rebounds per game, 26 steals and 17 blocks, as well as ranking third in the league in overall rebounding and second in defensive rebounding.

With five games left in her career, Doucette is currently 11th all-time with 1,035 points. She needs 12 more to move into the top-10 scorers in program history.

The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen each week in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.

UMass Lowell plays two games this week, entertaining Maine on Feb. 11 at 7 p.m., before traveling to UMBC for a Valentine’s Day matinee at 1 p.m.
