Jarrod McCarthy

McCarthy steps into his new role at UMass Lowell after serving as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for Lafayette College from 2023-25. Beginning at Lafayette in the summer of 2023, he spent most of his time working alongside the Leopards' volleyball and women's lacrosse teams, while also assisting as the secondary trainer for football, track and field, and swimming.

A few responsibilities of McCarthy's at Lafayette included updating and coordinating the scheduling for clinical training of students, as well as providing pre-game injury prevention services, and aiding with post-activity evaluations. McCarthy was also involved with implementing rehabilitation programs for athletes recovering from injuries, and supported his fellow athletic trainers with managing daily operations.

In his final year of college, McCarthy enhanced his knowledge as an athletic trainer, working for his alma mater, Quinnipiac, a part of the women's basketball program. He was accountable for taping athletes prior and during activity, performing evaluations and treatments of injuries and assisting with administrative tasks like injury logs and insurance claims.

Before his time with Quinnipiac, McCarthy briefly gained experience with Michigan's football program in the summer of 2022, dealing with rehabilitation equipment, executing treatments and field setup. His first experience as an undergraduate, McCarthy incorporated himself with Yale Athletics in the spring of 2022, working with the track and field and men's soccer teams. He helped design the treatment and rehabilitation programs for injuries, and was skilled with rehabilitative equipment like boost, underwater treadmill and biodex.

McCarthy has acquired a few certificates during his career, such as the BOC certified athletic trainer, licensed athletic trainer and the red cross: CPR/AED for professional rescuers.

McCarthy earned his bachelor's in athletic training/sports medicine from Quinnipiac University in 2023.
