Alex joined UMass Lowell as a Sports Performance Assistant in 2025. Alex is responsible for creating and implementing strength and conditioning programs for the Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Team.
Prior to UML, Alex worked as a Graduate Assistant at Athletic Evolution where he was responsible for designing individualized based performance programs for athletes from the youth level, all the way to the professional level. He also played a significant role for football players by preparing them for the NFL Combine.
Lacerda’s professional experience also includes an internship at Athlete Training Institute where he assisted baseball players in their strength programs as well as developed programs for return-to-play athletes.
Alex earned a Master’s Degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Merrimack College in 2025, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from the University of New Haven in 2024.
Lacerda has his NSCA-CSCS Certification as well as his CPR/AED Certification.
